On November 8, 2018, Bitmain released the marketing information to declare the sale of its first 7nm chip Antminer T15. It supports SHA256 algorithm with two versions: high-performance mode and low-power mode.
Miner Parameters
Mode | High-Performance Mode | Energy-Saving Mode |
Hashrate | 23TH/s ± 2% | 17.5TH/s ± 2% ~ 21TH/s ± 2% |
Power Consumption | 1541w ± 7% | 1050w ± 7% ~ 1260w ± 7% |
Power Efficiency | 67 J/T (25°C condition) | 60 J/T (25 °C condition) |
External Appearance
Package: no logo on the top, case size: 486*388*265mm, small tag pasted on the side.
Unpacking: remove the EPE foam on the top, we can see that T15 changes the ESD package, which is different from that of S9 series.
Miner in the box: the power board is integrated with the miner with double fans and parallel air intake as follows:

Pool and Miner Settings
The installation and setting-up of Antminer T15 is similar to that of other Bitmain models, so there’s no need to describe in detail here. Please refer to our guidance “ANTMINER GENERAL MINING GUIDE” at: https://www.eastshoremining.com/tutorial-general-mining-guide-troubleshoot-for-antminer-models/
After setting-up, the miner enters high-performance mode, the real-time status is shown on the “Miner Status” page.
High-Performance Mode Test
Power on for 20 minutes:
Power on for 1 hour and 30 minutes:
Running for 4 hours, overall hashrate 23TH/s. However, HW errors on one hashboard: 1448
Overall power consumption 1493.2w, noise at air inlet 83.6dB.
Energy-Saving Mode Test
Enter “Miner Configuration” page, select Low Power Mode, save after setting, restart the machine, wait for the miner to go online:
Miner status after 30 minutes mining
Miner status after one hour: hashrate 20TH/s, fan speeds 2760rpm and 3000 rpm; maximum PCB temperatures: 58℃, 61℃, 65℃
Power consumption: 1300w, noise: 83.9dB.
Disassembling of Antminer T15
Connection between control board and hashboard
Connection between power board and hashboard
The miner structure design is obviously different from that of the early generations. Remove the cover at the air outlet, the internal structure is shown as follows:
Remove the hashboard, the air tunnel is shown as follows:
The distance between air intake and outlet on T15 miner is 160mm. The distance between air intake and outlet of Antminer S9 is 255mm with more heat sinks and higher air resistance.
Notes: If the miner racks of mining farm are installed in accordance with the early S9 series. Being upgraded to Antminer T15, the distribution of the racks needs to be adjusted.
Control Board: front, back and local details
Power Board: power board is mounted on the upper part of the miner. The output is conveyed to power board through copper strip. The front is shown as follows:
The power input and output side, the parameters of the power supply APW8:
Hashboard: 3 hashboards in a single miner. The front and back:
Heat dissipation design is consistent with that of S9 series. And a small tag of manufacturer information is pasted on the board:
Power connection: copper strip connecting power board and hashboard
Chip:
- Hash chip: BM1391AE.
- Single hashboard: 60PCS.
- Single miner: 60*3 (hashboards) = 180PCS.
Local details: models of some key devices: MP2019, PIC33EP16
Summary
