Good news for FPGA mining workers with requirements on noise and portability. EastShore is offering a new product —- FPGA programmable miner,  AGPF Sk1 for short. This article will introduce the miner and evaluate its performance.

What’s FPGA?

FPGA is short for Field-Programmable Gate Array and it came into being as a semi-customized circuit in the field of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC). It solves the disadvantages of the customized circuits as well as the limited number of gates in original programming devices. The biggest perk of FPGA miners is that it can switch to different mining algorithms with the programmable chips in the same way of the GPU miners .

Product Specifications

Brand AGPF SK1
Algorithms Amoveo, Hyundai DAC, Boolberry, Dagger etc.
Coins Suppoted Amoveo (VEO), Hyundai DAC (HDAC), Dagger (xdag) etc.
Power Interface 6PIN x 1
Network wired and wireless network

Just like ASIC miners such as Antminer and Avalon, AGPF sk1 supports webpage management, firmware and algorithm upgrades very conveniently. The SK1 boot image file adopts the wired connection by default (the wireless function should be turned on separately) and the IP address can be obtained automatically after accessing to the router. It will find the miner IP address by router access or software scanning (please refer to the tutorial: How to find out the IP address of your crypto miner), and then enter the searched IP address into the browser to open the login page.

AGPF sk1 supports wireless network, which can be installed very conveniently without worrying about the layout of network cables. Enter the network/wireless page, click SCAN to scan WIFI, select the scanned WIFI and enter the password to complete the setup. Click ENABLE to enable the wireless hotspot for phone connection. Click EDIT to enter the editing page.

It’s the page to verify, which will prompt the MD5 values of the upgrade file for verification. Confirm the integrity and click the PROCEED button in the lower right corner to confirm the upgrade. Do not cut off power supply during the upgrade process, otherwise, the system files may be damaged and the system cannot be started.

After the upgrade is completed, access to the Pools tab under the Miner list, select the mining configuration profile, or enter your own wallet address and password on the page. Enter the name of the configuration file in the left corner of Pools [_______ ADD] and click ADD to generate the configuration, then set the pool, wallet address and password, click save. Once the configuration has been completed, the algorithm and the pool can be switched very conveniently.

Summary

The AGPF sk1 is a product supports variable multi-algorithms. Its current firmware is version 0.1.5 and it supports crypto currency mining of three algorithms such as Veo, Skunk and xdag. In the future, it will support verus and vbk as well as other algorithms.

AGPF SK1 supports algorithm online upgrading and the released algorithms can support acceleration.

Apart from supporting multiple algorithms and currencies, its hashrate is also more powerful than that of GPU miners. For example, the speed of veo algorithm exceeds that of 1080ti and the xdag algorithm, which is equivalent to the speed of 2-3 RX470 graphics cards, while the price and power consumption are more favorable than that of the GPU miners.

A minor drawback which can easily be improved is a metal shield should be added to the cooling fan.

AGPF sk1 is small in size with the power consumption of less than 100W. It supports wireless network and can enable wireless hotspot. Moreover, due to its ultra-low noise, it’s perfect for mining workers with requirement for flexibility. The mining workers can learn from each other, or rent hashrate on the nicehash.
