Antminer Z9 mini is a model released in May, adding another member to the Bitmain products family. Z9 mini supports mining cryptocurrencies based on the algorithm Equihash such as ZEC. So far, Bitmain has product series of the S series, the L series, the D series and Z series.
We will showcase the Z9 mini model in this ariticle.
Specifications
Brand | Antminer Z9 Mini |
Algorithm | Equihash algorithm |
Hashrate | 10k Sol/s ± 5% |
Power Consumption | 300w |
Power Supply | NO PSU, a PSU > 300w needed |
Packaging
The product is packed in a box pretty much the same as other models but the size is smaller as indicated in the name of the model “mini”. It is carefully packed to protect it during shipping. The manual is included in the box.
The design
The design of Z9 mini is consistent with previous models. It has one fan and 3 hashing boards. The case is made in Aluminum alloy which protects the hashing boards and helps with heat dissipation.
From above, you can see that there is one PCI-E6pin port on each hashing board. Each port will be connected to the power supply. The controller also has a PCIE port for one 6pin cable. Three ribbon cables connect the hash boards and the controller.
Facing the fan, you can see the IP Report button, Ethernet port, reset hole and performance indication lights. The fan is for inflow of air, for outflow of air, however, it uses the design of beehive shaped heat net which creates airways inside of the machine and optimizes heat dissipation effect.
Setting up
The setting up of Z9 mini is basically the same with other models, please refer to our tutorial General Mining Guide & TroubleShoot for Antminer Models: https://www.eastshoremining.com/tutorial-general-mining-guide-troubleshoot-for-antminer-models/
Heat and Noise
We used the PPS mode to test the miner in a 10㎡ office. The temperature of the room is 27℃.
After working for 24 hours, we tested the temperature and noise. At the distance of 10cm from the fan, the noise is 65.5dB which can be blocked by closing the door of the room.
After working for 24 hours, as we can see on the miner status page the temperature of chips is 55-57℃ which is in a normal range.
In this test, the hashing power hit 10.97 Sol/s. The power consumption was 252.1w.
Conclusion
Z9 mini is of smaller size and excellent performance. Lesser noise and lower temperature make it a good option for either home mining or farm mining.
