Baikal Giant-B is a miner model which supports Blake256R14/Blake256R8/Blake2B/Lbry/Pascal mining. All coins based on those algorithms are supported, such as Siacoin, lbryCoin, PascalCoin etc.. It’s 80GH with 300watt for Siacoin mining, which is very competitive. For Blake2B mining, it hits 80GH/s with a power consumption of ONLY 300w.

In this tutorial, we will show you step by step about how to set up the Baikal Giant-B.

Preparations

The following background knowledge would be helpful to use the miner:

• BLAKE2 official site: https://blake2.net/
• Sia official site: https://sia.tech/
• LBRY: https://lbry.io/
• PascalCoin: http://www.pascalcoin.org/

There are some predefined pools on the configuration page of the miner, including Decred Pools, Sia Pools, Lbry Pools, Pacsal Pools, Vcash Pools.

You need to decide what currency you what to mine and what the pool you want to use. You need to choose one of the mining pools and create a mining worker in that pool. Also, it is recommended that you have a look at the “Help” section of your mining pool.

In our test, we found that Baikal mining Siacoin does not work well in the Antpool, so in our tutorial, we will use the Nicehash pool instead.

 

Miner Connection

• For miner configuration, please connect the miner to the LAN port on the same router which your computer is also connected to. The miner is stand-alone, your computer is just needed for miner configuration.
• This is the miner you will receive.

• There are one miner and three PCS 1-to-2 6PIN converting cables in the package.

• There are SIX 6PIN ports and an ethernet port on one side of the miner. All the SIX 6PIN ports will be used for mining.

• Get your PSU ready. There should be SIX 6PIN connectors on your PSU, all the SIX 6PIN ports on the miner should be connected to your PSU.

• However, if there are no enough 6PIN connectors on your PSU, you could also use the three PCS 1- to-2 6PIN converting cables to increase the 6PIN connectors of your PSU.

• In that case, you need only 3(and at least 3) 6PIN connectors on your PSU.

• Insert the ethernet cable, then, miner connection DONE.

 

Mining Guide

Some of the following pictures are of other Baikal models, the settings though apply equally.

• Make sure you connected the miner properly. Then, power on your PSU.
• Wait for 1~3 minutes. (The miner needs about 1~3 minutes to initialize itself. Please wait patiently.)
• Scan the IP address of your miner: The “Network Protocol” of the miner is “DHCP”. The IP address will be different under different networks. You can refer to this blog for scanning instructions: https://www.eastshoremining.com/how-to-scan-out-the-configuration-ip-address-of-the-miner/
• Log into the miner configuration page:   Run your Internet browser, such as Google Chrome, IE etc. and open the IP address you just scanned (For example, 192.168.1.217). The password is “baikal“.

• Sometimes, you may not be able to log into the configuration page immediately, please just wait for about 1 minute then try to log again.
• Then, the “Homepage” of the miner will display.

• For the first time you log in, the configuration page might show something like “No devices running” and there is no other data shown. And the upper left corner of the page may be showing “Miner DOWN“. Please just wait for a while, until devices and pools data shows.

• Click the “Miner” tab at the top of the page for mining account settings.

• Before setting your mining account, you should first take a look at the “HELP” page of your mining pool to know the mining URL of your pool.
• In our test, the Antpool for Sia didn’t work well, so we used nicehash . According to its HELP page, we set our pool URL of the miner as:

Pool URL:  stratum+tcp://sia.usa.nicehash.com:3360

Pool Worker: 32E……….XM (Your mining ADDRESS)

Pool Password: 123

• On the “Miner” setting page, you can add a mining account by clicking “Add pool” or delete a mining account record by clicking the little “x” as shown in the picture below.

• It is very important to set the “Algo” option correctly. For Sia mining, it should be set as “sia”.

• You can also use the “predefined pools” to add an account setting. By clicking one of the pool, then the default setting will be loaded.

• After setting your mining account details, please save the settings by clicking “Save pools“. (The “Save pools” button will appear automatically after changes made. Otherwise, the button will be hidden.)

• You don’t need to change anything else on the “Miner” setting page. (For example, the “SCMINER Options” )
• Wait for 1~3 minutes, then the miner will reload the mining settings and start mining with the mining account you just set.
• Navigate to the homepage by clicking the red circle as in the following picture.

• You can check the mining details on the configuration homepage. The mining speed showing here will be refreshed every 5 seconds.

• If your miner works perfectly, you don’t need to change anything else(including other settings in “Settings”, “Backup”, “Terminal” tabs). If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t tweak it.
• Now, you are all set up. Let the beautiful machine work and earn money for you.
